In 2005 Las Vegas was designated a MainStreet Community under the umbrella of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Main- Street Las Vegas Corridor stretches from the 1898 Railroad Depot in the east, through New Town along Douglas Avenue, and west to Plaza Park. It was defined by the historic route taken by horse drawn trolleys which ran from 1881 until 1901 when electric trolleys were introduced. The Corridor encompasses three historic commercial districts, each one listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Two historic hotels, twelve restaurants, and 110 independent businesses welcome the visitor to a unique and authentic shopping and dining experience.

The Friends is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the support of the City of Las Vegas Museum and Rough Riders Memorial Collection.

We foresee a City of Las Vegas Museum with increased financial resources and support, expanded public partnerships, and broader community and regional participation. Our support will assist the City of Las Vegas Museum in becoming a premier regional institution that increases our understanding of the “link between the past, present, and future.”

We support the Museum’s obligation to the collection entrusted to it as patrimony by members of the community. We deliberate and generate ideas for securing both human and financial resources for the care of the collection, for scholarly research, and for education exhibits and public programs.

The mission of the Hermit’s Peak Watershed Alliance is to foster watershed stewardship to ensure the long-term vitality of the human and natural communities of the Hermit’s Peak region, specifically the Gallinas, Sapello and Tecolote watersheds.

The Hermit’s Peak Watershed Alliance works to restore and maintain the health of our local watersheds because our water supply and many other resources we need are dependent on them. To care for our watersheds we engage our entire community including private and public landowners and managers, students, government entities and the general public. We do this through education, on-the-ground restoration projects, improved land management, and by guiding watershed planning and policy.
